Brownman's HALLOWEEN THRILLER [Tour]
I can't believe we're heading into my 12TH YEAR of Brownman's Halloween Thriller! Geezus how the time flies... This has become an annual highlight for me and somehow never gets old. There's just so much incredible music on that iconic THRILLER album, and every year I find something new to appreciate as we dig back into these classic MJ tunes. Add to that an absolutely phenomenal group of musicians who make this music sound ridiculously good! ADAM MANSFIELD on drums and SEAN DENNIS on bass make an out-of-sight, killer rhythm section. Brown's also been training up two monstrous youngsters, JOSH WARREN on bass and MILES JOHNSON on drums, who'll be subbing in for part of the tour and sound just fantastic. And that's to say nothing of the unstoppable tidal wave that is our fearless leader himself! It's a recipe for one hell of a good time, if I do say so myself. Acclaimed jazz / hip-hop trumpet player BROWNMAN ALI will once again lead an all-star quartet through his popular annual HALLOWEEN THRILLER concert, this year traveling to various venues (and schools!) across Southern Ontario. The much lauded BROWNMAN ELECTRYC TRIO + 1 will perform the entire Michael Jackson "Thriller" recording, interpreted and re-worked in the Miles Davis-esque fashion this multiple National Jazz Award winning improviser has become known for. In addition to the quartet performing Thriller top to bottom, other MJ classics will be featured through the night for this unique Halloween jazz party series. Costumes and Thriller video dance moves encouraged.

This show features as its "+1" acclaimed keyboardist NICK MACLEAN, a JUNO Award nominee, signee to Brownman's Browntasauras Records label & winner of 10 Global Music Awards, standing alongside 2 of Toronto's most in demand musicians: SEAN DENNIS on bass (called a "once in a generation bassist" by the bass dept. head at Humber College), and ADAM MANSFIELD on drums (a 26-year-old drumset phenom), all under the direction of modern jazz trumpet iconoclast BROWNMAN ALI.
*** Two 22-year old phenoms JOSH WARREN on bass & MILES JOHNSON on drums will be subbing for Sean & Adam from Oct 19 to 25.
"Delving so deeply into that record always leaves us speechless", states Ali. "Michael birthed so many incredible tunes over the years, but his collaborations with Quincy Jones on Thriller has to be one of the most towering musical achievements in pop music ever. Using that brilliant material every year on Halloween, as jump-offs for what we do makes for a party that's both danceable, but still rooted in exploratory improvising and deep reaching solos. We approach it the way Miles Davis might have."
